This tells the story differently as our heroine is kept in the dark about bear shifters, including herself being one. It was great seeing how she deals with the news and her new married life. There are plenty of hot and steamy sex scenes to get you hot and bothered as you see Mae grow through her life from all of her life tests including her arranged marriage to Scott whom she doesn't even see until she walks down the aisle.
The first 87% of the book is the before story and the last part of the book takes place after "Alphas of Red Moon Ranch". It was a very good read and I loved the characters. It gives very good insight to the story behind "Alphas". It has many chapters that are shorter and you are able to follow the time line as the first or second paragraph of each chapter will clue you in to the time change if there was one. Well written and I enjoyed it like I usually do with any Morgan Rae's work.
Not my kind of book. The time frame is the 70's. The first sexual encounter is...to be nice, forceful. The characters don't like each other but I'm to believe they fall in love with each other just because of a physical attraction? **SPOILER ALERT** The shifter part of the story left me wondering why? The shifter hunter villain is smarter and more powerful than the two Army shifter bears?! {And then the villain is stopped from killing and hating just because the female character goes and talks to him and he has a kid and he's about to make her kids orphans?} There's a curse that is really never explained as to why this is happening to this specific group. The couple start having kids before the curse takes over. 11 years later the main male character decides to leave his family. Now the 11 year old son is 35 and tells his mom is taken care of the curse but doesn't explain how. So, the female character (20 plus years later) goes into the woods and finds her "mate" that's been living as a bear ALL these years and brings him home to assimilate to the human world again in a snap of the fingers.
To find love in a arranged matting is rare but still unable to forget what it took to get there.
Loved the story line. Kept me reading. Ready to read the next story!!! Must read for anyone who loves shifter romance.
Great read, can't wait to start the next book. A must read for people who love bears. The ending was unbelievable, couldn't have been any better.
I only recently discovered this series and it's quickly made itself a favorite! Morgan Rae's storytelling style is gritty and evocative; guaranteed to keep the pages turning and the reader's attention fixed upon her deeply engaging characters. A must read for anyone who enjoys well crafted supernatural fiction in a modern setting. Highly recommend!
I have heard that not everyone likes to read a prequel after they have read some of the series. Boy are you making a mistake if you don't read this one. I had already read any Red Moon Ranch book I could find what Morgan Rae herself asked if I would read this and give her my opinion. Great! Fantastic! There just aren't enough superlatives to describe this book. I loved it. If you have read any of the other bookside in this group don't miss this one. If you haven't, this is a great place to start and I'm sure you'll be hooked.
